Surfing, Kite-Boarding, Skateboarding
I was born with a pair of hockey skates on my feet in the small college town of Big Rapids Michigan on July 7th 1982. I grew up playing hockey as a little kid and continued to play hockey to this day. When I wasn’t in the hockey arena you could find me out on the golf course. I started golfing at the age of 8 and I try to get in a round whenever I can.
I started kiteboarding in 2001 on the frozen waters of Lake Michigan in Grand Haven. At this point kiteboarding had only been around for a couple of years so there were not a lot of people doing it. It was just me and two other guys who took to the ice with our skates and our kites. This was something that I really enjoyed doing but didn’t get to do as often as I wanted since I moved to Kentucky for school.
It wasn’t until 2003 that I took a trip and visited Cape Hatteras that I tried kiteboarding in the water. After my trip to Cape Hatteras I knew that this was the place to be if I wanted to continue kiting. So in 2004 I left Kentucky and moved to Cape Hatteras where there were plenty of sessions to be had. This place is known for its wind and waves so there was always a session to be had. On the days when there was no wind I needed something else to do so I figured I would try surfing. It took me a while to get the hang of it but now if there is wind I can kiteboard and if there is swell I can surf. In 2007 I was looking to learn something new and figured I would give skateboarding a try. This is something else that I have grown to enjoy and I try to get in a quick skate session whenever I can.
