First Person to Run 50 Miles in all 50 States in 62 days
Lisa Smith-Batchen is a mother, ultra-endurance athlete, running coach, business owner and fundraiser who resides in Alta, WY. She's won events of all distances, ranging from 5K, to 50 miles, to 135 miles, to full triathlons. Lisa is the only woman outside of Europe and Africa to win the Marathon Des Sables, a 155 mile footrace in the Moroccan Sahara. In June 2010, Lisa will become the first person to run 50 miles in all 50 states in the shortest amount of time, 62 days as a fundraiser for her charitable Dreamchaser Foundation. And in July 2010, she hopes to become the first woman to complete the grueling Badwater Ultramarathon ten times. Additionally, she's completed many Ironman Triathlons, as well as expedition length adventure races, such as the Eco-Challenge and Raid Galouises.
