David Patrone gives it his all, on the trail – and off.
David was born July 17, 1971 in Philadelphia, PA at 4:00 AM and he’s been keeping people awake ever since. Although he’s a member of Mensa, he nearly failed to graduate high school. At 17, he joined the only organization meant for people like him: The United States Marine Corps. For ten years he traveled the globe as a Marine Aviation Explosives Specialist in places like the Adriatic Sea, Persian Gulf, Japan and Norway. He left the Marines to pursue a career in computers and somehow became a very successful Jazz musician and entertainer in San Diego, CA.
In 2003, David became a Certified Alpine Ski Instructor in the mountains of Southern California and a few years later attempted to hike the entire Appalachian Trail with his two brothers. He eventually combined his musical career and his hobby of mountaineering and hiking into a fundraising method and way of life.
On May 3, 2011, he is scheduled to begin a trek along the 2600 mile Pacific Coast Trail. He’ll be combining his two loves into the first ever “Walking Jazz Tour” incorporating the Pacific Crest Trail with live performances while hiking from Mexico to Canada.
